Seth began his career at Radio Sheffield when, aged 20, he became the station’s ice hockey correspondent, providing commentary and interviews on the Sheffield Steelers. This led to the opportunity to commentate on Channel 4?s coverage of the ice hockey Challenge Cup. In 2002, he commentated on the FIFA World Cup in Japan and Korea for TeamTalk252, as well as presenting their ice hockey, basketball and cricket shows, and hosting a late-night phone in. Soon after, he took on the role of BBC Radio Sheffield’s Doncaster Rovers reporter, before becoming one of South Yorkshire’s leading sports voices through the nightly phone in ‘Football Heaven’.
As well as his committment to 6 local football clubs (Wednesday, United, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Chesterfield), Sheffield’s diverse sporting scene allowed Seth to build close links within other sports, including boxing, athletics, speedway, basketball and ice hockey, on a national scale. Seth regularly demonstrates his versitility, providing news and commentary to a number of BBC outlets and other media channels.
Seth grew up in and around Sheffield where he is still based now. Sport was always his passion and as a youngster he played football, rugby, cricket and ice hockey, all the while harbouring dreams of emulating his speedway hero, Shawn Moran.
Seth is an associate lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, specialising in media and sports journalism at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
In 2011, he compared a number of events including the South Yorkshire Fire Service Awards and the Chartered Institute of Building Awards, and has a number of events booked already in 2012.
